The True Tale of Felton E. Frog

My name is Felton Eugene Frog, but all my friends call me Felton E. I was born in a pond in the Wooded Park of my good friends, Spyke the dog & Spencer the cat. I remember when I first met Spyke, I think it was a Thursday. I was sitting on a lily pad getting a sun tan when Spyke came swimming by.

“Hello,” I said.

“Hi,” Spyke said.

“Where are you going?”  I asked.

“I’m just swimming to the other side of the pond to go play with my cousins, Rico & Chico,” Spyke answered, “do you want to come with me?”

“Sure, that sounds like fun,”  I said.

So I jumped on his back and we went and spent the day playing with his cousins. We had a great time and Rico and Chico were really nice. The next day, Spyke introduced me to his brother, Spencer who said that he never met a frog before so he wanted to know all about me.

When we are first born, frogs are called tadpoles or polliwogs. The other critters in the pond said we looked like fish.  Eventually, I lost my tail and started to grow long back legs and a short body.  My feet are webbed so I can swim and I have big, beautiful eyes, if I do say so myself. Spencer laughed when I said that, but he did agree that I do have very big eyes.

I continued to tell Spencer that our family moved to the big city soon as we were big enough. I told him we have cousins all over the world and that a lot of them live in the rainforests.  Some of my brothers and sisters went there to stay but I came back to the pond a year ago.

I love the country and I really missed the pond in the Wooded Park. I am so glad I returned because now I'm friends with Spyke and Spencer. That Thursday turned out to be one of the best days of my life.
